Rey and Gloria Meza

Rey Meza is the Director of Bands at John Marshall High School in San Antonio, Texas. He has taught in grades five to twelve during the past thirty-five years in Texas public schools. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Southwestern University and a Master of Education from SouthwestTexas State University.

He has been associated with two band programs that have earned many honors throughout the past thirty-five years, including thirty-five UIL Sweepstakes Awards, nineteen State Marching Band Contest appearances including six State Championships and seven finalist standings. In addition, two TMEA Honor Bands, several "Best in Class" Awards at National Concert Festivals, and a Governor approved selected State of Texas Representative for the "American Musical Salute" in conjunction with the White House Bi-Centennial Celebration. The John Marshall Ram Band has performed in many venues including ABC's TV - Dick Clark's Sea World All Star Celebration Production, ESPN NFL Vikings football game, Alamo Bowl, the NBA World Champions San Antonio Spurs, WNBA Silver Stars, CHL Rampage hockey team, Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom "Main Street Parade", and San Antonio's Battle of Flowers Band Festival as a "featured band".

Mr. Meza is an active clinician and adjudicator throughout Texas and Southwest United States. He is Past President of the International Bandmasters Fraternity Phi Beta Mu Alpha Chapter, Past TMEA Region 18 and 11 Chairman, and has served on UIL committees including the Sightreading and Prescribed Music List Committees. In addition to currently being the UIL Music Executive Secretary of Region 11, he is proudly serving the band directors of Texas as the President of The Texas Bandmaster's Association Board of Directors.
