The Texas Bandmasters Association produces a quarterly 35-40 page magazine for its members called Bandmasters Review. The mission is to assist its membership in achieving the highest standards of instrumental music education available. TBA has received great response to the publication.
Teachers and college professors have not only used the information to enhance their own classroom teaching skills, but many have reported using the articles as a basis of discussion in peer groups.
Bandmasters Review typically contains 8-12 educational-type articles, a personal story on the influence music had on an individual's life, a motivational article by Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser and news about TBA's programs including our annual Convention, Symposiums, and Clinics. Examples of educational articles include unique teaching methods for concert and marching bands, successful rhythm techniques, and programs to reach the beginning band student. Also included is instructional information on a specific instrument and general teaching tips for band directors.
Educational Material
TBA solicits written music educational pieces from across the country and is constantly searching for new ideas to share with our membership! We would be interested in contacting anyone who would like to be published. By sharing successful programs and techniques with fellow band directors, students benefit greatly. A short biography of the author is printed with each article. Articles range in length, but 1000-1500 words is suggested.
The TBA staff reviews each article and makes the final decision on the content of the Bandmasters Review. TBA reserves the right to edit for grammatical errors and/or length. We prefer that you send your article electronically to asturchio@texasbandmasters.org.
Advertising
We invite you to be a part of the Bandmasters Review by advertising in the magazine. Mailed quarterly, the Bandmasters Review reaches all of our approximate 2400 active members, 340 sustaining business members, and booster club organizations. We are extremely proud of the far-reaching exposure the Bandmasters Review enjoys.
